Secretaria-Geral do Ministério da Saúde (General Secretariat for Ministry of Health) in mid of 2001 purchased the development of their institutional portal with a view of a better service provided to the user/citizen, but also with the accession of new Web technologies, the program of modernization and development of government.
The portal, developed by SISTRADE, aims to provide a quality service for Portuguese citizen. It is obvious that the portal has also been developed taking into account the accessibility of the Internet for people with special needs, the entire site is navigable by pressing "Tab" and all links have associated a descriptive "tooltip" of the contents of the link.
The portal contains a structure of SQL database to allow citizens to obtain as much information as possible, with the best quality and time. All databases contain entry forms, adding, deleting and updating records, and is passed on the portal automatically, online and in real-time.
The entire structure is easily updated, passing up the updates on-line and in real time. The portal allows, first, to inform the public about what it is, what it does, and how Secretaria-Geral do Ministério da Saúde (General Secretariat for Ministry of Health) is organized. In addition, the portal is divided into several sections, some (almost all) of public use and other restricted to health professionals.
